Celebrating At Disney World

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Orange. Enjoy the ride as we share how to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and other milestones at Disney.

My daughter was lucky enough to celebrate her birthday at Disney World not once but twice! The past two year's that we have gone to Disney World it just happens to fall on her actual birthday--May 1st. The first thing I would recommend to anyone celebrating a birthday at Disney World---go to guest services and get a complimentary birthday button! Guest services is located at each theme park. They gave my daughter a birthday button at check in to our resort also. When you make your advanced dining reservations--be sure to make a special note that you are celebrating a birthday on the reservation.

Tips for celebrating a birthday at Disney World--

  • Make a note on the ADR that you are celebrating
  • Wear your birthday button
  • Sometimes you will receive special complimentary cupcakes, desserts or surprises but DON'T expect them
  • Don't be surprised if random people approach you and say happy birthday :)
  • Characters will occasionally write happy birthday in your autograph book
  • You can purchase special birthday ear's on Main Street and even have your name personalized on the back
  • You can purchase ahead of time special 'birthday' shirts from Etsy.com for your Disney vacation

  1. I have celebrated my birthday there and the Goof just celebrated his birthday there at the mid-end of May. It was so much fun to see how the characters interacted with him because it was his birthday and he loved all the CMs wishing him a happy birthday as well.

  4. Our birthdays are one of the few celebrations we have not had at WDW, though we did celebrate our son's 4th on DCL last year. Hope to celebrate at WDW soon!

  5. My daughter loved celebrating her birthday at WDW. She received a birthday card signed by all the princesses when we dined in Norway. She also got 3 fastpasses from a CM who noticed her button. Those were great surprises, but were definitely not expected.

  7. My birthday falls on Febuary 27th so I have not been to WDW during a birthday.....yet! What a great tip about characters writing Happy Birthday! I would have never thought of that. Have you seen different treatment of birthdays due to age?

  8. What fun! We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries. I love to receive happy wishes from random strangers, and I'm sure to comment to people I see wearing buttons in the Parks too. Have you ever gotten a birthday card from Mickey? We noted my hubby's bday on our resort hotel reservation, and there was an autographed photo card of Mickey waiting for us in our room!

  10. We have yet to celebrate a birthday at Disney. We've celebrated our anniversary there a few times, though. And we celebrated Ashley's graduation too.
