Advantages of Staying Off Property At Disney World

Thinking of staying off property when you visit Walt Disney World? The Blogorail is sharing tips and info to get you ready for vacation.

There are so many advantages to staying off property at Disney World. You can typically get a lot more space for a lot less money in addition to a kitchen and laundry machine.

I love love love having a kitchen so that I can prepare quick breakfasts, lunches and even dinners. Having a kitchen really helps save money so that you can avoid eating out each meal. It is really nice to return from a long day at the theme parks and be able to heat up a frozen pizza or chicken fingers for my picky eaters. The mini fridges in hotel rooms do not have enough space for a full weeks worth of milk, snacks, food, etc for a family of my size so I really enjoy having a full size refrigerator and freezer. It is nice to be able to freeze ice packs to use daily in our cooler at the theme park also.

Staying off property can also allow for more room to spread out. Typically you can get more square footage and more bedrooms by staying off property at Disney. I don't know about you, but I absolutely hate being cramped in a one room hotel room with three children and nowhere for them to run around and play. Rainy days in a hotel room are any Mom's worst nightmare!

  1. I agree about the rainy days in hotel rooms - what a drag! The few times we have rented a home off-site, we have always really enjoyed our experience!

  2. You are right, that room to spread out really does make the vacation more relaxing.

  3. These look like nice places that you guys are writing about and showing. We have never stayed off property and now we are DVC owners, but this is something we may do.

  4. Looking at some of the properties in the Blogorail post, I don't think I'd mind at ALL staying in one of these homes during a rainy day! Good point!

  5. I totally agree about having your own kitchen. We love eating at WDW and DL restaurants, but almost always do breakfast before we leave since we're up before the sun. A full kitchen would certainly allow for more than just portraits and cereal bars ;)

  6. A full-sized refrigerator really would be a huge plus!

  7. The kitchen and laundry room are both huge bonuses! We love to eat breakfast in our room, but always struggle to keep food items cold enough in the mini-fridge we get in our DVC studio. A full-size fridge with a freezer is a huge benefit! And I would love to be able to throw wet swim suits in the wash right from the comfort of our vacation home!
