I don't know about you, but my children are the pickiest eaters! They ate vegetables when they were babies but now that they are older they typically will not eat veggies. Well, that is until I was forced to get sneaky!
I absolutely love the cookbook by Jessica Seinfeld called Deceptively Delicious. I learned quite a few 'tricks' on how to steam, mash and puree veggies. Combined with the 'tricks' I learned from her book I have also come up with a few of my own "tricks".
Try taking your children on a fun Veggie Field Trip to the local farmer's market or even the grocery store. Have them check out all of the colorful veggies and tell them each to pick one or two that they would be willing to try. My children picked out the bright red tomatoes, yellow peppers and snap peas. After your Veggie Field Trip prepare the veggies and offer a dip such as ranch or hummus for your children to sample the veggies with. This really helped my children when they were adamant about tasting the veggies. They love ranch and this really worked! I was surprised!!
If that does not work or your child absolutely refuses to try the newly purchased veggies then you just have to get sneaky. You could puree them and make a pizza. Add the veggie puree to the bottom layer with the pizza sauce then cover with a lot of cheese. I did this and it worked. My children had no idea there was spinach on their pepperoni pizza!
