Meet Duffy Bear

My children were excited to finally meet Duffy Bear

Many people do not know the story behind the popular Duffy Bear. Duffy "the Disney bear" made his debut in November 2010. Duffy is Mickey Mouse's teddy bear that Minnie Mouse gave to him to travel with on his many adventures. You can meet Duffy in Epcot and you can even purchase your very own Duffy bear and clothing!

Most young children do not know who Duffy is because he is not in any tv shows or movies. He is instead a retail creation of Tokyo Disney, where he is one of the most sought-after souvenirs! You can purchase this adorable little Duffy the Disney Bear online at the Disneystore.com for $10+ depending on what size you choose. Next time you are in Epcot keep an eye out for Duffy!

How To Prevent A Toddler Meltdown At Disney

Welcome to the next stop on Magical Blogorail Blue. Today we are discussing traveling to the Disney Parks with toddlers.

A meltdown or tantrum is defined as "an emotional outburst, usually associated with children or those in emotional distress, that is typically characterized by stubbornness, crying, screaming, yelling, shrieking, defiance, angry ranting, etc." Many children have meltdown's when they are tired or simply do not get their way.

My little one was just 11 months old when she visited Disney World for the first time

To prevent an embarrassing meltdown while on vacation I would recommend the following:

  • Be sure to take an afternoon break to allow your little one to take a nap
  • Apply sunscreen every 3-4 hours to prevent painful sunburn
  • Bring your baby or toddler sunglasses and/or a hat
  • Bring a lot of snacks to keep your little one happy while waiting in long lines
  • Bring a portable fan to attach to the stroller to prevent your little one from getting overheated
  • Most importantly, don't try to force your little to ride any rides they are not comfortable riding

A lot of times children will have a meltdown because they are simply tired. If you notice your toddler getting cranky and heading down the meltdown route start making your way towards the park exit. If your child happens to have a full blown meltdown don't be embarrassed and don't make an even bigger scene by yelling at your child. A friend once told me that she would tell her toddler that if he/she did not stop screaming or yelling in public that they would be asked to leave. I tried this once and it actually worked. My toddler stopped crying because he did not want to have to leave.

My children nap daily and I try to keep their routine very similar when we travel. We always plan an afternoon break and return to our condo for a 'quiet time'. This is a nice time for adults to take a break, swim in the pool while one parent stays with the child, etc. We always make sure to pack a lot of snacks and a sippy cup for constant hydration helps too.

Tips For Planning A Frozen Birthday Party

I am in the process of planning my 7 year old daughter's gymnastics "Frozen" themed birthday party! My daughter absolutely loves all things "Frozen" and she loves gymnastics so what better combo than a "Frozen" gymnastics birthday party!? To keep things on a budget I went to the Dollar store and purchased adorable decorations, blue streamers and goody bags.

http://www.partycity.com/ has awesome Frozen themed decorations. They have Frozen piñatas and adorable Frozen balloon bouquets.

Easy and affordable party décor for a Frozen party
  • Borrow or purchase a folding table to serve as your main table to display your food and decor
  • Place a few cute Frozen toys (Anna and Elsa dolls, crowns, blue beads, etc.) on the main table as the centerpiece
  • Place cupcakes on the main table also
  • Set the table with napkins, paper plates and a cup for each child
  • Let your birthday girl create name place cards for the table so each child knows where to sit
  • Hang streamers over the main table (blue, purple, light blue, etc.)
  • Come up with a simple craft activity for the children to do together at the party
  • Have a few fun snacks that coordinate with the theme (dip pretzles in icing and blue sprinkles, make a blue shimmery icing dip for guests to dip cookies in, etc.)
Just remember to make the birthday party simple and fun. My daughter has opted to have her party at the local gymnastics place so the children will be entertained with a fun gymnastics foam pit, obstacle course, bounce house, etc. After they play in the gym they will come to the party room where I will have a table similar to the one I described above set up for the children. They will eat cupcakes and do a Frozen themed craft.

I will be sure to post photo's from the party soon :)

Breakfast At Be Our Guest

Be Our Guest is such a beautiful place to dine at Magic Kingdom. I was thrilled to hear that Be Our Guest will now be open for breakfast!! I can not wait to visit in May and try the delicious croissant doughnut! While the breakfast is a little pricey I feel like it is worth it because you are dining in such a beautiful castle. Breakfast for adults is $19.99 and children under age 9 are $11.99. All entree's include an assorted pastries basket.

Here's a look at the new breakfast menu at Be Our Guest:

Kids Meals includes a small milk or bottled water. However, Minute Maid juice boxes or Nesquik chocolate milk are available upon request. This is good to know because my children love chocolate milk :)

Here is the delicious croissant doughnut topped with banana caramel sauce and a side of fresh fruit

Here is the assorted pastries that are included with your entree. The cinnamon bun looks yummy!

Guests can order upon arrival at Be Our Guest with their MagicBands or prior to arriving online. Guests will be given a magic rose who ordered online.

Check back in May to see my detailed review of our breakfast at Be Our Guest.

Best Disney Resorts For Larger Families (+5)

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Green. Enjoy the ride as we share the best Disney resorts for larger families (+5).

My family consists of my three children and myself and my husband making us a family of 5. Occasionally when traveling it will be difficult for us to find a hotel room that will sleep a family of 5. Most standard rooms in hotels accommodate a family of 4 unless you get two connecting rooms which doubles your price. We typically stay at Embassy Suites because they do allow 5 people in a room. I absolutely love that some Disney's resorts will accommodate a family of 5.

Last spring we stayed at Disney's Polynesian Resort which is a deluxe resort located on the monorail. The resort is absolutely beautiful! We had paid for a standard room however at check in we were upgraded (maybe because it was my daughter's birthday?!) to an amazing pool and water view room. We were given lei necklaces and a resort map upon check in. My children also received coloring books and crayons. Our room was located in the Somoa building which I had requested. This building is perfectly located beside the pool and across from the beach area. With small children I knew we would be spending a lot of time at the pool so I was hoping to be as close as possible.

The view from our balcony was amazing!

this was our amazing view from our balcony

The beds are super comfy and if you look closely you can see my little one taking a nap :)

This couch can convert to the perfect bed for a child. You could even squeeze two children on the couch bed.

In room coffee maker

Plenty of space in the mini fridge for drinks and snacks

The bathroom was huge with plenty of storage for wet swim suits

If you run out of soap/shampoo/conditioner be sure to ask for more

sparkling clean bath tub/shower

Huge closet with a safe. Our umbrella stroller even fit inside of the closet which was nice.

How cute is this lamp in the room?! The rooms are decorated so nicely!

I would highly recommend the Polynesian Resort. It is so nice to stay at a resort on the monorail and the resort offers many things to do. Guests can enjoy the pool, waterslide, splash area and the beach. There are also boats available for rental. The Polynesian Resort boasts some of my very favorite restaurants, O'hana, Kona Cafe and the Luau! To read my Kona Cafe dinner review visit this post and this post to read about the Luau.

O'hana offers a really fun character breakfast that you should not miss! Characters include Mickey Mouse, Lilo and Stitch and Pluto. The food is really great and served family style. There is no buffet or menu to choose from. The servers bring each table coffee, pog juice (amazing!) and fresh fruit and a bread basket. The main course consists of Mickey waffles, bacon, biscuits, sausage, eggs and potatoes which is all you can eat. They will bring more food if you ask :)

delicious bread basket

fresh fruit

Tons of yummy food
