First Timer Tips For Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is truly the place to be during the holidays! Disney really goes all out for this party. There is even magical snow on Main Street! How often do you see snow in Florida?! The party takes place at Magic Kingdom select nights in November and December:

  • November 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20 and 29
  • December 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 18
To attend the party guests must purchase a ticket. Prices start at $74 per person. Children under 3 are free. Guests can enter the theme park starting at 4:00 pm. The party begins at 7:00 pm and ends at midnight.

The live entertainment is absolutely amazing at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I have not attended the party however I have heard that is wonderful. We hope to make it next year in 2016. Cinderella's Castle is transformed at the party into a beautiful sparkling castle complete with blue lights and icicles.

Mickey's Once Upon A Time Christmas Parade:
This is a must see! Grab your seats early and bring plenty of snacks for your little one's to keep them happy while waiting for this amazing parade to begin. The parade takes place at 8:15 pm and again at 10:30 pm. The later parade is not as crowded as the first parade but your little one's might be exhausted and fall asleep. I would recommend going to the early parade at 8:15 pm if you have children under age 6. Characters featured in the parade include the Gingerbread Man, Elves, Jiminy Cricket, Goofy, Pooh Bear, Tigger, Scrooge McDuck and of course Santa!

A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas
Be sure to head over to Tomorrowland (near Space Mountain) and dance with Buzz, Mike and Stitch to your favorite holiday tunes! This is a great time to let your kids burn off some extra energy, sit back relax and watch them have a blast. Times are 7:45 pm, 8:45 pm, 9:55 pm, 10:50 pm and 11:50 pm.

Celebrate The Season Show
This is a great show and really gets you into the holiday spirit! This is a take on the Nutcracker and includes Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald. This show takes place in front of Cinderella's Castle at 7:30 pm, 10:05 pm and 11:20 pm.

Complimentary hot cocoa and cookies are available at select locations throughout Magic Kingdom. Just look for the giant candy canes which mark the spot! If it's hot out and you don't want cocoa there are also apple juice available and apple slices available.

All You Can Eat Complimentary Cookies, Cocoa, Apples & Apple Juice

Tips:
Be sure to have a plan ahead of time. Fast Passes are not available during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Lines will be long for many meetngreets. Decide which characters you really really want to meet and try to get in line early. The most popular characters to meet are Santa, Mickey and Minnie and the Seven Dwarfs. The Seven Dwards and Santa will be located near Pinocchio Village Haus and they will usually appear at or around 7:00 pm. Be sure to bring snacks for your children while you wait in long lines and waiting for the parade to begin.

Tips On How To Get Back In The Back To School Routine

  • Move bedtime to an earlier time one week before school begins to help with the transition of waking up early
  • Encourage your kids to have a healthy snack after school
  • To ensure homework is done on time I have my kids do their homework after their snack. This way I am not rushing to check home work on the way to the bus in the mornings.
  • Pack lunches the night before
  • Create a weekly lunch chart so that your kids can pack their own lunches if they are old enough
  • Always check your children's bookbags/folders the night before school. You don't want to miss an important form that might require your signature.
  • The #1 tip I could give any parent for getting back in the 'back to school' routine is get plenty of sleep! Yes-parents need to get plenty of sleep too!

American Girl Bistro: Charlotte

My 8 year old daughter absolutely loves all things American Girl. She owns two American Girl dolls and quite the collection of clothing. I joke that her dolls have more expensive clothing than her brother and sister. Ha. We recently visited Charlotte, North Carolina and were pleasantly surprised to learn that a brand new American Girl store opened at the South Park mall. We ventured to the mall and headed straight to the American Girl store. It is such a nice store complete with a Bitty Baby section and the most adorable Bistro. Reservations are highly recommended. We got lucky and we were able to enjoy dessert at the Bistro (without reservations! score!)

My daughter posing at a cute little photo spot

The American Girl Bistro is absolutely adorable

The details are on spot

My daughter ordered a cookies and cream milkshake and said it was the best milkshake she has ever had! I ordered the chocolate chip cookie skillet with ice cream (could easily share this with two people as it is a big portion) and it was delicious!

The American Girl Bistro is located in several of the American Girl stores including Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Columbus, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Minneapolis, Nashville, Orlando, Scottsdale, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and Washington DC.

Overall I would highly recommend a visit to the American Girl Bistro. They offer lunch and dinner along with birthday parties. For more information on their dining options visit their website
