How To Save Money For A Vacation

Image result for vacation budget

A family vacation is a must have for this Momma!! I feel like every Mom needs something to look forward to and a vacation is just the fix for me. I really enjoy the whole planning process for a vacation however I don't enjoy the whole saving the money for the vacation....I learned last year that it is a much better plan to start saving for a vacation a year in advance.

In order to save for your family vacation it is really important to set a "vacation budget" and try not to go over it. Also, after you set your "vacation budget" try to make a plan of how to save money each month to apply towards the vacation. I recommend trying to save at least $200-$400 per month if you can swing it. This will add up very quickly over just about 6 months. Be sure to put the money that you are saving into a special savings account so that you aren't tempted to use it for other things.

Did you know the average family vacation costs $1,200 to $4,500 for a family of four. Vacation prices can really vary depending on where you're going and how you are planning to get there. Flying will cost a lot more. If you start saving immediately after your vacation is over for the next vacation then it will just become a monthly habit that you will learn to adjust to financially.

How To Save Money At The Grocery Store

Image result for grocery cart

Grocery prices keep increasing making the grocery budget off the charts! I remember when I could buy a weeks worth of groceries for my family of 5 for less than $120. Not anymore! We spend on average $150 per week and that is if we are really limiting the kids snacks, paper products ,etc. I am here to share with you some great money saving tips on how to save money at the grocery store. For starters, always come with a grocery list. Don't make the mistake of coming to the grocery store without a shopping list. This will result in a lot of unnecessary items being purchased.

Tips:
Always make a grocery list
Never shop when you are hungry
Plan your meals out prior to going to the grocery store
Purchase store brand items (generic brands) to save money
Buy items that are on sale
Create a realistic weekly grocery budget

If I see that something is on sale that we use on a regular basis then I will go ahead and purchase a few. Also, if I see that something is buy one get one free I always buy at least 3 (only if this is something we would be needing anyways in a week or two). I try to always plan out our weekly meal's prior to going to the grocery store. This will help me stay organized and helps me stay on track at the grocery store. I create a grocery budget and if I go over budget one week then I usually stay under budget the following week by avoiding items that we do not absolutely need.

Be sure to read the grocery store weekly ad's, clip coupons and sign up for your grocery store's loyalty program card which will usually save you some money each week on certain items.

M&M Cookie Bars Recipe #Holidaybaking

My little helper enjoyed making this recipe almost as much as she enjoyed eating it! This is such an easy recipe ya'll! You can bake the M&M cookie bars in a 8x8 casserole dish OR you can use a 9 inch pie plate if you want to make a cookie cake instead.

M & M Cookie Bars

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup butter (melted)
1 Large egg
3/4 Cup brown sugar
1/2 Cup sugar
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups flour
pinch of salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup M&M's
6 mini peanut butter cups (if you prefer)

Directions:
1. Melt butter
2. Add egg, sugars, vanilla & whisk
3. Add flour, salt & stir gently
4. Add chocolate chips
5. Add M&M's
6. Smooth batter into a 9 inch pie dish (or small casserole dish)
7. Add remaining M&M's & push gently down into batter
8. Back at 350' for 25 minutes
9. Let cool for 30 minutes

These are super easy to make and they are so delicious! Perfect for the holiday's if you use red and green M&M's. This would even be perfect for Valentine's Day if you use the pink and red M&M's!
